If you use the "HP Laserjet 4Si/4SiMX PS 600" you can get colour PDF's - of 
course if you "print" using a driver that only does monochrome, that's what 
you get in your PDF's.  Other issues are font and character 
replacement/matching.

ps2pdf and the pdflib library could be components.
