I'm looking for an easy (and inexpensive) way to create PDF
documents on a linux box (rh73 running samba as a PDC) from a
windows box.

  The idea I have in mind is to set up the PDF "converter" as a
  printer, which then creates the pdf document.

  The pdf "printer" would be configured as a postscript printer on
  the windows side, and the linux box would convert the postscript
  into pdf using ps2pdf as the backend. That is:

  word (or any other) document
    -> postscript driver
      -> samba pdf printer
        -> output to file

  The resulting file will be on a netbios share where it can be
  collected by the windows user.

Has anyone done anything like this? If so, what utilities and what
sort of configuration are useful for making this happen?

Or are there other alternatives to achieve the same result?
(Alternatives that don't cost very much, if anything at all - apart
from my time to set it up).

Thanks for any pointers.

Cheers
Tony
