Forth rocks.
Once you grok the mindset, it all makes sense, but bootstrapping your
understanding can be difficult.
It's a great language for small systems, (it was originally invented
to run a telescope drive system) but in my opinion is not well suited
to large multiuser virtual memory systems.
Chuck Moore, Forth's inventor, is still working on stack-machine
languages, and he designs *seriously* high speed stack-machine CPUs
for video processing and VLSI CAD environments. His approach is to
forgo general purpose designs, eschew backward compatability, and
generally stomp on the weird pedal. He doesn't use a standard
keyboard, or even character-set.
