| Except you can't avoid some file locks :) Locking of serial devices, etc.
On those systems, you have to "lock" serial devices with pseudo
locks held in other places, e.g., /tmp -- all I'm saying is that
locks on device files are an arcane and not wholly satisfactory
proposition. But I guess everybody knows that.
