gdday everyone

i m new in bris and at uq. using uq's dialup via kppp
worked a couple of times initially, since then my
modem gets NO CARRIER. 

a third phone no provided by helpdesk allows me to get
to account verification, then does not accept my
password (which works perfectly well for reading my
mail).  

helpdesk is of no help. 

does anyone access uq from home with a linux box? is
it worth my while to keep trying?
