Ok. I have this lil 586 who serves as our gateway. Currently it's running
win98 and sygate home network because of the following:
I boot linux. Recompile kernel to support two network cards. depmod -a .
modules load fine. reboot to load rest of new kernel. modprobe network
cards. they do not load. reboot old kernel that suported just one network
card. modprobe and card loads. try to ping. ping does not work. check all
settings possible. ping still does not work. reboot and load new kernel.
modules now load. still no pings. reboot old kernel, modules do not load
any more. etc etc ad nauseum.
Does anyone else have a clue what is going on? I am going crazy here. Oh,
and before I put the second card in, network worked FINE... no hassles.
There are no irq conflicts, it runs fine in windows.
Sandra.
