I agree with Joel here. Ctrl-Alt-Del can be a useful facility. In the early
versions of Linux this just did a reboot with full fsck because the system
was not shutdown properly. Later versions pointed it to shutdown -r now.

I think if you have a problem, attack the real source of the problem not the
symptom, ie. teach your girlfriend what to do.
