ya know? i thought exactly the same thing!! Ok, i still have issues, but
the howtos and the man pages are a godsend! I still haven't gotten
everything i want going yet (eg I can't play asf files) but it's getting
there... albeit slowly, but then I still run windows for games and a lot
of the multimedia stuff I can't get working in linux yet.
Fortunately for me, one of my flatmates is a bit of a code hacker, and he
really loves to get into the nitty gritty and find out why things don't
work and make them work. I just wish he'd participate more on this list, I
know he'd be able to work out a lotta the stuff that goes wrong here :-)
Me? I"m a hardware solver. Always have been always will be. Code hacking
drives me crazy, particularly when u think you've got the answer and a
"make" still crashes out with errors. Gimme a computer that won't boot and
I'm in heaven :-)
But, I'm always wanting to learn, so linux is my cup of tea. Maybe I'll
know a lil bit of C in a couple of months :-)
