You configure your DNS so it forwards requests it cannot resolve to
your ISP's DNS. Your DNS will then cache these records for a period of
time thus eliminating repeated lookups.
I am just learning about the evils of DNS and BIND. I heartily recommend
the ORA book: _DNS and BIND_ Third Edition by Paul Albitz & Cricket Liu.
