Hi all. This is a resend of the email I sent yesterday with the terrible
lag to my mail client.. I've added a bit of extra info...
One of our clients re did the IPs on their LAN and all went well. They
did that as they were using non-RFC1918 addresses internally and I
recomended they come into line with industry practice.
I went in & did sme consulting and they did the change well. They used IP
aliasing to route the old & new IP ranges during the change over, etc.
Ie, it was done properly.
The Stallion EasyServer II terminal server was one of the last to change.
They vghit reset on it (clearing the config :) and rebooted it. It didn't
come up. I came in and got it up and running for them (once I had access
to the console, which required jumping through hoops, all was well :)
Anyway, the config hasn't changed but now the PPP ports reinitialise
themselves after a PPP calls ends. By reinitialise I mean they restore
themselves to defaults - PPP goes away, etc. A reboot fixes this but as
their are multiple dialin lines this is not viable in the long term (this
weekend it is being done Friday & Saturday evening as this will be a
period of low use for the business).
This didn't happen before even though only the IPs have changed in the
config (apparently :)
The config is full of 'sets' and I'm wondering if I should use 'define'
which commits changes to the NVRAM. It all happened Friday afternoon so I
haven't tried this yet.
I've checked deja and found little or nothing to cover this.
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
