We use dual processor machines here almost exclusively for our Linux based
servers. They run like a dream.

The late 2.2 kernels and the 2.4 kernels both have SMP enabled by default.

It's no longer a case of futz around with kernels until you find one that
is stable. It seems to be the general case nowdays that if you have an SMP
Linux box and it's unstable, you've got dodgey hardware.

This only really applies to architectures other than Intel nowdays.
