Actually, some negative info unfortunately. I compiled a 2.2.16 with the
vpn patch to provide ip masq for a windows box in my network here. The
windows box has the qut extranet access client installed. The vpn patch
is supposedly the way to go to get this setup working (and also for
configuring the linux host as a vpn client I believe).
Unfortunately, the kernel with this patch behaved rather badly,
resulting in kernel null pointer dereferences thingies [-1]. The 2.2.16
kernel without said patch works as expected (ie. no vpn support, but at
least the kernel behaves itself).
Perhaps try pre 2.2.16 with vpn patches [0,1]
for the VPN howto, and
 http://www.wolfenet.com/~jhardin/ip_masq_vpn.html for the patches.
