Subject: IAMEMS: AUDA: ICANN At Large elections

I'm emailing on behalf of Dr Paul Twomey, outgoing CEO of the National
Office for the Information Economy, about the ICANN At Large elections.

We are trying to raise some publicity about ICANN's "At Large" elections,
which will allow Australian Internet Users to have a say in the future of
Internet governance.

ICANN has At Large elections in September which allow ordinary Internet
users to elect five board members. The due date for enrolment to vote for
these elections is 31 July 2000.

This is a vital election that will help to shape the future of the Internet,
and it's extremely important that Australian Internet users have a say. I
would greatly appreciate it if you could contact auDA members, as well as
the various industry bodies and representative associations you are
afiliated with as individuals, and let them know that this enrolment
deadline is looming.

Voting is free and you only need to be 16 years or over and have an email

The ICANN At Large website, including the online voter registration form, is

We understand some coutnries have enrolled over 20,000 voters, while
Australia has only about 400 at last count. Australia will be seriously
marginalised if more users don't enrol. I'd be very grateful for any
assistance or publicity you can offer to let Australian users know that they
can have a say in this election.

Please email or call me on (02) 6271 1052 if you have any questions.

Best Regards
Asa Masterman
