Cool bananas.

-----------
IDC published a 1999 review of the server OS market. Below are the
highlights, but feel free to e-mail if you'd like a PDF copy.

* From 1998-1999, Linux showed tremendous growth of 93.2% in total
license shipments (697,000 shipments in 1998 vs. 1,347,000 shipments in
1999).
* The share of Linux shipments jumped from 4th in 1998 (15.8% share) to
2nd in 1999 (24.6% share). Linux had more unit shipments in 1999 than
NetWare or all UNIX flavors combined. In terms of total license
shipments in 1999, NT had the leading share with 38.1%.
* The growth in Linux unit shipments was 650,000 in 1999 vs. 399,000 for
NT. Linux unit shipments growth was 63% greater than the unit shipment
growth for NT.

Who's asking whether or not Linux will be a serious operating system?
