[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]
[ Unix-related topics. Please observe the list's charter. ]
Hi all,
A question for the collective. I have a web server with a number of
(potential) clients ranging from professional Software Engineers using
Linux to a Writer using Windows98. How should I give them access to update
their web-pages?
The simplest way I can see is to chroot the web-server, and allow ftp
access into the boxen. (What is that foaming sound? Jason?)
rsync is also an obvious choice. Of course, this requires ssh. And the
free, internationally available clients all seem below par, or else,
difficult for my Windows user. (For Windows, I guess I could script
something up in Perl for Win32... might be an option I guess!)
I have vaguely heard of a thing called WebDAV that is a new W3C publishing
mechanism?
Help appreciated,
Raymond
