[ Humbug *General* list - semi-serious discussions about Humbug and ]

I set this up yesterday and I'm a bit confused as to why it didn't work the
way I expected it to...

cache_peer proxy.provider1.com.au parent 3128 3130 no-query weight=2
cache_peer proxy.provider2.com.au parent 3128 3130 no-query weight=1

I had 2 gateways on the LAN and had added a host route to the proxy machine
to reach provider1 via the link to provider1. This worked quite nicely in
that I could access a page and it would be loaded from the provider1 proxy.

I then disconnected the link to provider1 to see if it would then get pages
from provider2, and it didn't. All I got was a page from squid with
something like "(101) network unreachable", which was perfectly correct, but
not what I had expected. I had expected squid to then attempt the proxy
from provider2.

Can anyone point out what I may have done wrong? Or is there a different
setting somewhere I have missed?

Cheers
Michael Anthon
