Hi David,

ttys2 != ttyS2

note capitalization in the second instance.  Also check that your have
modem link.

setserial will let you configure a serial port's interrupt try something
like this:

# setserial /dev/ttyS2 irq 5

Normally there is a script /etc/rc.d/rc.serial that serial
initialisation like this is put into.
