http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/download-linux.html

it, er, really wasn't hard to find

"Products/APIs" -> "Java 2 JRE" -> "JDK 1.2.2" -> "Linux"

Those release candidate versions on mirror are either for JDK1.3 or not
the latest for jdk1.2.2, as the 1.2.2 release has hit final stage.

As for SQL, mySQL has a JDBC driver that works well for me; I don't recall
which tier it is, but I believe it communicates using native network code,
which makes it pretty fast, but unsuited to applets. That'd be a problem,
if applets didn't suck so badly.

mm.mysql.jdbc-1.2b.tar.gz

It can be found from http://www.google.com/ or
http://www.worldserver.com/mm.mysql/ for those who have trouble navigating
the Web.
