Hmmmmm ... that's what I have on my work linux box, which I
re-compile the kernel all the time.

	1) Make sure that you compile the SCSI driver (low-level driver)
	   into the kernel.

You must do this or else the kernel doesn't know how to speak
	   to the SCSI harddisk.

	2) Enable SCSI support in kernel

Other question I want to ask, is your machine loaded with a ATAPI
CDROM or IDE harddrive ?

Failing that, email me again, and I will send you the entire
.configure file I have on my linux box. Brent Wesley nearly killed me when
I tried a kernel compile from remote without putting the SCSI drivers the
last time and it went into kernel panic.
