[H-GEN] Recommendations for a ipchains firewall tool

I need to firewall various machines services as one would expect. These 
machines are running a 2.2.x based linux distrib, does anyone have any 
recommendations for both traffic accounting and firewalling software?

Obviously it has to interface with ipchains, console preferred but almost
anything would be better than trying to track a large set of rules via vi.
