Hi all,
I downloaded and installed the latest ALSA drivers, libraries, and utils from
www.alsa-project.org.
The only deviavtion from the install instructions was when they say to
'cat /proc/asound/cards' it is supposed to list your card, mine just
said --- no soundcards ---- and I spent ages trying to get it going.
I will save you the time I wasted, when you get to that stage startx and just
turn up the volume in the mixer.
Tadda you will have sound and it will still say --- no soundcards --- when you
'cat /proc/asound/cards'
Don't ask me why I am just listen to the speakers and sound comes out so that
enough for me.
I posted a question about the DMA error recently and you need to turn on "Use
DMA by default" when compiling the kernel.
Regards
Harry
PS. Does anyone know how to turn up the volumes each time you start, the ALSA
drivers have all channels muted by default.
