Under LBA, you exceed 1024 cylinders when you go over 8448Mb.
My experiences so far have been very pleasant with drives, Linux
seems to painlessly install (very pleasant).
However to use LILO the boot partition must be contained within the
first 1024 cylinders. Naturally DOS/Windows can only access the first
1024 cylinders (if applicable), I don't know if this restriction applies
to NT (no machine to test it on).
I always use Linux fdisk to partition large harddrives.
