S3 is only a brand name for S3 inc. they produce an large range of

Specifically named S3 chipsets typically do work, S3 typically does not because
it doesn't exist. Each time i do a hardware build my money is on an S3 chipset
in preference to SIS, Permedia, or anything else I can name (unless you want to
talk vodoo glide <grin>)
