[H-GEN] Connecting Win9x to Linux with PPP

I'm sure this question's come up before, but does anyone know offhand how to 
convince Win95 to talk to Linux over a serial cable, using PPP?  .. and no, 
choosing "Serial cable from PC to PC doesn't work" because Windows then 
assumes you want to talk to another Windows machine, and uses a protocol 
that's not PPP.  Unless PPP suddenly changed to handshake with the string 
"CLIENT" ..

Windows doesn't like it if you tell it there's a modem there, but don't give 
it a phone number to dial or anything.
