Hi everybody.

One of our users (a visiting academic from the US) down here has a Dell
Inspiron 7000 (PII) with caldera's dist installed and a 3com 3c575 ethernet
card in pcmcia socket 0. Under kernel 2.0.35 (original installed version) the
card detects that it's on a 100Mbit link, and under 2.1.132 it is not active
at all as far as I can tell.

I can't get his machine to load the module under either kernel, and so there
is absolutely no network connection for him under linux. He has win98 on the
same box and that detects the card ok. However, this is not an optimal
solution since he _really_ needs to be running a real operating system on this
laptop.

Does anybody have any pointers as to how I can help him get the card
recognised, module loaded and so on? Oh - please don't suggest loading more
stuff from cd, because he doesn't have a cdrom drive. (yes, I was surprised
too).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
James C. McPherson
