I have had the same problem using LILO with a 3.2GB drive in an old Pentium 
P60. The BIOS didn't recognise the drive' CHS specs - I have it set up as 
1036MB 5512cyls 18hds 63 secs LARGE mode. I suspect that it is more of a 
BIOS problem and I have been booting from a floppy until I get around to 
upgrading the BIOS. Linux finds and uses the full hda3 partition without a 
problem. I actually removed LILO (with "fdisk /mbr") so that I can still 
boot dos from the HDD.

Not ideal but it works for now, Dave J
