"Apparently"?

I can assure you, 'tis not so. 6.1 works fine - the only real problems
have been 2.2 kernel oddities that cause everybody grief (cf: tftp woes
previous).

Hell, even the bleeding-edge Rawhide release works far better than you'd
expect. It's actually using the 2.95 gcc now - a noticable inmprovment
in X performance. Nothing has exploded or started oozing ichor as yet.

I'm considering chucking aj's new slink-and-a-bit Debian distro onto a
VMWare guest session to check it out, though.
