(Note reply-to: being general at humbug.org.au vs Craig Armour <c.armour at lingua.arts.uq.edu.au>)

We have probably done the most expensive experiment with Linux Fs
corruption and guest what...

Umm.. We bought brand new segate hard drives (Scsi uw's) and 2 of them
needed re fscking something cronic. Kernel crash with tar process on
/var (backup)

This has been going round the kernel lists for some time now but for
those of you who don't watch them:

I'm using 2.2.10 going now to 2.2.11-pre

if you are using 2.2.10 may I suggest you a) backup your important data
b) upgrade your kernel c) downgrade your kernel d) use solaris/BSD?some
other real OS

Just thought some people would like to know

Cheers
Craig (Just about read to throw lingua from a high speeding train and
watch it bounce)
