I have an internel web excel 56K in my Linux box at home. It regularly
connects to UQ at 48000 without too many problems, although I get the
occasional disconnect due to line noise. The modem uses an ISA slot and
has jumpers to select IRQ and IO and does not limit you to the standard
COM1 thru COM4. My only beef is the volume of the on board speaker.
The web excel in the linux box actually performs better than my xircom
realport 56K modem in my laptop. Higher connect speeds and more
consistant connects on the first try.
