Does the manual actually state outright that it can drive an ATAPI cdrom?
I've had this problem with alicia (EISA dx4 100), regardless of IDE
controller. The bios just ignores the cdrom which it has no concept of.
The only solution is to purchase a IDE controller with appropriate BIOS,
or use a different type of cdrom.
