[H-GEN] IDE CDrom on a non-plugnplay

Just wondering if you're using the bare m/board + vid card + HDD + FDD +
CD-ROM and there's no other cards in the slots (e.g. sound card or
modem)...I've struck something similar over Easter which drove me mad for
hours... eventually removed the internal modem and watched in disbelief as
it happily mounted...under DOS...no requirement for a decent OS on this
machine at present ;)
Changed modem brands and all was well. Patient despatched and no calls/voice
mail (yet). Oh yeah, & it wasn't a "winmodem" either, in case you were
wondering. Hmmmm. Experience.
