Hello,

        I set up RedHat 4.2 to use shadow passwords a few weeks ago. The
info is kept on the cd, (well for 4.2 anyway) /DOC/RHMANUAL/DOC073.HTM

I set the shadow passwords like this.

cd /etc
pwconv5
chmod 600 passwd- shadow-
