i seem to be sending write packets just fine, but no mention of a
response.. e.g. ppp: write frame, count=28 (+ four lines of hex) 'til we
drop offline.

ppp2.2* spits the dummy if i try to demand noauth - invalid argument, or
summat..

not sure if i've tried enabling 'auth' yet.. seemed a bit presumptuous
to go demanding things of the server.. +pap certainly didn't help, but
then, why should it..

we-e-e-ell..., not yet, shall we say. 8^). i figure by the time i can
deal with that, i might be able to appreciate it..

diff'rent majors (4 & 5 resp.) in rh4.2, 'cording to the docs.
