Hello world,
Just a quick reminder that there will be an executive meeting at 7:30
this Saturday (after Jason's talk). The agenda is reprinted below, with a
couple of additions (marked with [NEW]). It also includes a little more
information on most of the items, as requested by a couple of people.
There's a lot to go through, so some of it (in particular the latter
items) will probably have the majority of their discussion saved for a
later meeting.
Any further items that need to be considered by the executive should be
submitted by email to exec at humbug.org.au, but will probably not be
considered formally until the next executive meeting.
* Meeting scheduling
It's been suggested that executive meetings be regularly scheduled,
rather than simply called as needed.
* Contact information for executive members and assistants
* Reimbursement to the treasurer for membership related expenses
* Reimbursement to petty cash for various expenses
* Provision for a "drinks officer" non-executive position
Duties: to take care of refreshments at meetings
* Provision for a "webmaster" non-executive position
Duties: to maintain the contents of the HUMBUG web site.
* The present and future of adams and caliburn
What services will be provided, and how will the costs be met?
* Obtaining an extra room to hold talks and meetings
There has been some comment that talks would better held away from
the standard chatter of HUMBUG meetings.
* Storage of donated hardware [NEW]
The hardware donated to the club some time ago is still lying
unused in Brad's garage. What will we do with it, and where will
we do it?
* Beowulf hardware [NEW]
A number of members are interested in building a small scale
Beowulf cluster. Is Humbug willing to officially support this?
What support can Humbug offer?
* The convention
Should HUMBUG hold a convention early next year? If so, a program
and organising committee need to be formed to organise both suitable
material, and ensure a venue is available.
* Affiliation with the UQ Student Union
We may need to be affiliated with the UQU to ensure we can
continue to obtain access to facilities (rooms, network access)
during meetings. Unfortunately UQU affiliation doesn't square
perfectly with the aims and makeup of HUMBUG. What needs to be
done about this?
* The new constitution
What is the current status of the work on the new constitution?
Cheers,
aj
