Frank,
Awful interested in some Entry Level Sun Sparcstations along with any other decent alternative systems to play with (Amiga,PPC,Alpha etc.). There are a few of us in Townsville wanting to play with Linux, Unix, BeOS... well, anything not Microsoft really. Something else, I'm also after SCO Unix.
Next thing, I'm looking at distributed Linux Red Hat 5.2 OEM Systems to sell through our dealerships and am having some problems getting a 5.1 Distribution to shut down (stops at "Unmounting remote filesystems."). some opinions touted an executable somewhere wouldn't concede but dammed if I could find it, even a shutdown straight from login gives me this eternal pause. I have seen several users post this problem with no real idea on fixes, all running 5.1. the Installation is standard barring modified X settings for resolution, Celeron 266 on an EX mainboard with 32Meg DIMM and 4.3Gig Drive.

I saw a Sun Sparcstation 5 sold this week - unfortunately only one
available - SparcStation 5, 32 MB DIMM, 19" colour monitor, not sure of
the hard drive but could be 400 Mb. Sold for $600. Bit too much for me
but I suspect $600 was cheap for this. The 19" monitor did look oh so
nice but was bloody heavy. Also a number of Sparc bits from Delta
Technology (from the receivers) were sold, including a 1.4 Gb external
HDD, tape drive, Sparc box etc.
I might be able to source a few Sparc IPC's with 8 MB RAM, 207 Mb HDD
and 17" monitor around $100 - $150 if anyone is interested, not sure on
actual prices as I will visit to check that they are working later this
week. Also some 17" monitors and 15" monitors are available. Have not
even discussed the 17" monitors but the 15's are with the Sparc Classic
boxes and the owner (who has 9) wants at least $150 each.
