There is a Linux Howto "Ext2fs-Undeletion", but it only applies to Ext2
file systems.  And from memory, the original request was from a BSDer.

It's generally just "not done" in Unix.  The theory is that many users
all simultaneously writing to the disk (as well as some daemons) make
it quite impractical ('cause it will almost certainly be soon
overwritten on a large system).
