The TX option for a 'Real Use' machine which needs larger memory sounds
inferior to using the older HX chipset with lots of EDOram even though
it is slower but the chipset does cache it completely. Also an older HX
board would have price advantages over the newer 'good quality' SDRAM
with the true 100MHz bus capabilities. (Much cheaper I believe).
Ultimately the choice in my view is:
-What CPU will do the job at hand (slower is usually cheaper)?
choose one slightly faster.
-How much memory will it need for the job?
choose the next lot up or more if justifiable.
-How much money will this unit earn in the various formats?
bean-counting time (is it a porsche or a work horse???
-Is the choice process realistic or is there strong bias involved?
-What is the funds situation for this outlay?
This a quick list which I look at for a real choice and then go and do
it my way anyhow.
Hope this helps.
