As it happens, Wayne, most of the membership of HUMBUG is found from the
student populations of UQ and QUT. There are also others, like Rob Kearey,
Mark Suter and myself who are UQ staff members. Thus you have got to
expect that there will be a certain amount of discussion of UQ and QUT on
the mailing lists. I don't recall anybody else having a problem with the
content of the lists. Also, UQ very generously provides us with our net
access and meeting room - it is reasonable to expect that there would be
some discussion of this also.

A reason as to why people are sending their "winges" to the list is that
there is really no other appropriate forum for people to air their
greivances in, where they can be assured that the other members of that
forum actually
	1) understand what the hell's happening
	2) give a damn.

I like to think that the non-university-based members of humbug _do_ like
to keep in touch with what is happening at UQ, for the reasons above if
nothing else. Apart from those reasons, thread drift is generally enough
to guarantee that discussions take very little time before moving on to
something else. I also fail to see how you can be speaking for the non-uni
based people, since you are the _only_ person to have ever expressed any
annoyance that I can remember (and I've been reading the list ever since
it started).

how about emailing president at humbug.org.au or robert at zen.humbug.org.au and
asking directly instead of tacking it on to the end of a rant and making it
look like a personal attack?
