[H-GEN] A pause function.

Hi all,
       I was just wondering if there is a function in any of the standard
"C" libraries that can be used to pause the process for a defined period
of time.

I need to be able to say to the computer... "Stop work for a few secconds
and then do this procedure again"

Its the "Stop work for a few secconds" bit that is throwing me.

I tried having a loop that looks for the exit criteria but having a loop
zoom round and round thousands of times a seccond is very CPU intensive. I
only realy need to check for the exit criteria every few secconds....

can this be done.
