Bruce's and Simon's recent mails answered my queries, yes. I'd like to
apologise for inconveniencing Simon at a time of personal difficulty,
but my thanks to him for nevertheless promptly fulfilling his executive
duties.

The mails did however raise some further questions in my mind.

In particular, I believe no official advance notification of the last
executive meeting was given to the club as a whole -- I know I found
out about it by IRC, when someone referred to a post from the executive
list. My understanding of the matter is that this was due largely to the
executive meeting not being organised in advance, or something similar,
but nevertheless, I'm not particularly comfortable with only a couple
of days' notice, and far less than comfortable with no official notice.

I'm less bothered by having only a couple of days of notification for
meetings in general because they're generally predictable in advance
anyway, apart from changes in rooms. Still, going back to notices on
the Saturday beforehand would be nice.

I'll note in passing that both these things are `guaranteed' by the
constitution as it stands -- sections 4g (Notice of at least one week
must be given for any executive meeting) and 5c (Notice of at least
one week should be given for any General Meeting).

I suppose I'd like to affirm David's point that we should perhaps look
at following the current constitution a little more carefully before we
start looking at becoming incorporated, or, for that matter, before we
look towards adding more rules.

A similar issue is that of the new cash box. If I may quote:

] 8) Purchaseing of a new cash box
] Due to ambiguities arrising from the last executive meeting Fi
] requested a resolution on whether or not a replacment cash box was
] to be purchased for the damaged treasurers cash box. The results of
] the vote where:
] 4 for
] 1 abstain
] a new cash box is to be purchased.

And, once more:

] 8c) All club expenditure must be approved by a unanimous executive
] decision.

While I have perfect confidence in the executive's handling of Humbug's
finances (especially after witnessing the discussion on the banner),
I am curious as to whether the executive are overlooking this clause as
unworkable, interpreting `unanimous' as `unopposed' or something else.

I would also appreciate it if the minutes included the names of who
voted which way. I see no reason for executive votes to be anonymous,
and, personally, would be interested to know who was voting for and
against what.

I appreciate that the executive have other commitments than Humbug, and
await their response with patience. And once again, Bruce and Simon have
my thanks for their previous replies.

Faithfully,
aj
