[H-GEN] Interest in a Linux game

For some time now, I've talked on and off with many members of Humbug, all
interested in developing what could be considered a professional quality game
for Unix. All are talented in their own way, and I feel, a small group of us
could quite easily pull of a game that would make Windows users drool a
little. In the windows world, games like Freeciv or nethack, regardless of
classic nature, just don't appeal.

I'm not suggesting we give up our day jobs and so on to develop hours of
animation for this game, just a good, nice looking, well thought out game.

The purpose of this email, is to try to generate interest in developing a
current title further, or developing a new title from scratch.

Probably genres are either Role Playing Game (like nethack), or a Real Time
Simulation (much like Starcraft or Craft), I can't imagine we having time for
much more. Other genre suggestions would be appreciated.

Networked of course, but no need for a computer AI player (unless someone with
the know how has the time).

Many of the current titles that exist or are being developed for Linux in
particular suffer a real problem with descision making, therefore take quite a
while to get anywhere near playable, at which point everyone is sick of it and
disappears. Being a gamer, and a long time Linux user, I'm sick of having to
boot Windows to play a developed game, so I'm taking a step :)

I await your interest.
