The most common working string for most v42 capable modems is:
AT&FX3E0%E1%C0\N4
Which is basically compression off echo on, no busy tone detect v42 LAPM
mode with fallback fall forward. Most modems use \N4 yours will most
proberbly be different (Murphys law).
Modems like dyna links use &Ax to control the v42 mode.
