ath1, in the vanilla flavoured at command set, tells the modem to PICK UP
the line (like picking up a telephone handset).
atx1 tels it to ignore dial tone detection and busy signal detection.
atx2 tells it to ignore busy tone but listen for dial tone,
atx3 ignores dial tone, but listens for busy signal,
atx4 listens for both.
