I are a little confused over this ip masquarading. If someone could set me
right please :)
I currently have my home lan connected thru a nt machine running a proxy
server. This I think I have no problem understanding. The proxy server
sends on the requests of the other machines, and passing back data to them.
It does this by making the internet think its all from one machine ie one
ip address. As I understand it, nt does not use masquarading.
Linux users have recommended that I replace this with my linux box. Ip
masquarading has been recommeded as the prefered method. Up investigation
of this I understand I also need a firewall/proxy.
If I need a firewall/proxy, where exactly does ip masquarading fit in ????
Could somone please explain..
