              CSIRO EXPLORATION AND MINING

APPLICATIONS PROGRAMMER: Virtual Reality in Mining and Geoscience
Reference:  PG/111/7/3

Our research in the area of interactive visualisation
systems aims to design and refine virtual mine system
prototypes for both underground and open-cut mines.  The
major component of this work will be related to
developing software for 3D and 4D virtual reality
applications that will be delivered on the internet.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated applications
programmer who will assist in the development of 3D
virtual reality applications.  You need to have
experience or demonstrate competence in developing
graphics based applications. It would be an advantage to
have knowledge of graphics languages such as Virtual
Reality Modelling Language (VRML) or Open GL and object
orientated software design methods. You will work in a
team and be responsible for preparing documentation
supporting the software and for writing reports where
necessary.

You should have appropriate qualifications in computer
science or equivalent experience. The position will be
based in Brisbane, however you must be prepared to travel
throughout Australia.

The appointment will be for an initial period of 2 years.
Australian Government superannuation is available.
