[H-GEN] Linux as a mail relay.

Good evening all (damn, it is too),

I currently administer a small school network this year, which next
year will turn into a large school network, connected to the Internet via a
64k ISDN permanent line. I will be running a mail server onsite (EIMS, Mac
SMPT/POP mailserver), but I want to set up a second in case the Mac falls
over (as if ;P).

I will be running a Linux box as a proxy server, and a DNS machine,
but what do I need to do to set it up to hold and relay any received mail
when and if the Mac Mail server goes down. I'm happy with the DNS entries
side of it, but I'm not sure how much I need to set up the Linux box to act
as a mail router. Do I need to add each user to the Linux box to allow to
receive mail for them, and then pass the mail onto the Mac box, or is it a
simple one or two line config file change, or some piece of software that I
will need to run in the background?

Any help/comments appreciated.
