It basically comes down to still being able to boot the old kernel if the
new one fails.  I really think that error message needs to be changed.
They are really warnings, not errors.  As long as you aren't using the
modules listed they don't affect the system at all.  And once you delete
the modules which you aren't using they disappear.  

I know its another two weeks, but if you haven't solved the problem by the
next meeting, we all have alot of practice at helping first-time kernel
compiler's :).
