Does anyone out there know what might be causing a kernel error when
I use rpm? Basically I have installed a minimal sparc Linux and now
I'm trying to install the rest of the system via rpm (as I have
finally managed to download the 160 odd meg of rpms). Unfortunately
when I try running "rpm -i anyuninstalledpackage.rpm" I get that
rather cute smilie face blowing a raspberry.

I don't think that it's rpm's fault. I have the .rpm files on a
nearly full zip disk (using vfat). Should I have them somewhere
else, or at least on a device that has more space? I also found when
I did an "ls a*" to see all the rpms beginning with 'a' I also got a
kernel fault, even though I could do an "ls" or an "echo a*". This
is why I figured that the disk could have something to do with it.

I'm at work and I only ran into these problems at 1am last night, so
I haven't had much of a chance to delve into it. Any pointers would
be greatly appreciated.

TIA
