Hello,

For all the people who didn't attend LCA, I thought I would just repeat
the cool announcement we made.

Thousand Parsec is running an AI programming competition, you can find
more details at http://www.thousandparsec.net/tp/comp.php
There are cash prizes and plenty of swag to be won.

Thousand Parsec is totally Open Source framework for building space
empire building.

If you have any interest in AI programming I would recommend giving it a
go. Thousand Parsec games offer a very different environment for AI's
from a standard game. As well, AI's are standard clients, so it can't
cheat even if it wanted to.

You are free to use any Open Source language to write your AI, however
as Python, C++ and Ruby already have semi-working protocol libraries
they are a good place to start. All code must be released under an OSI
approved license.
