What it actually says on the wiki is[1]:

A rough consensus was reached that the next exec meeting
would be held in the first meeting of the new year, the
    ninth of January.

I don't think that states anything definite. And I do think it
would be better to send an explicit notice to the announce list
telling people about the date a reasonably short time in advance
to maximise the chances of people attending. On the other hand,
I'd be surprised if it made much difference and I do think it
would be silly to put off the Exec meeting over a piece of last
minute pedantry. I think the Exec meeting should happen this
Saturday. And I think the Exec should make better arrangements
to ensure the meetings are announced properly for future
meetings.

Cheers, Greg[2]

[2] I am, of course, neither on the Exec nor a member, although
I have a long-standing plan to rectify the latter defect as
soon as the Exec sets up online membership processing.
